I saw Brita on the Monday before the wedding, and she was worried about the weather forecast. It was supposed to be quite cold, and I tried to reassure her by explaining that it was supposed to thunderstorm on my wedding day, but ending up being sunny and 80ยบ. Turns out the weathermen were correct in this case, and it was freezing all day long, before it started to snow at about 7 pm! At least all the portraits were out of the way!
Brita and Ben decided to do a first sighting before the ceremony, so they could take a lot of the portraits beforehand and have more time to hang out with their guests. I definitely recommend this to anyone willing to be a little unconventional. It makes the wedding so much more relaxed, and you will actually get to go to some of your cocktail hour. Eric and I did this on our wedding, and it was really nice to see each other for the first time, and be able to kiss and talk to each other. It felt more private and personal since the first time we saw each other wasn't in front of 200 people.
The reception took place at Plumpjack Inn, in Squaw Valley. This location is about a 2 minute drive down the road, and the setting was absolutely breathtaking. Surrounded by mountains, with tall grass, old fences, and a little creek, it was beautiful!
The ceremony took place at the Squaw Valley Historic Chapel. It's within walking distance to Plumpjack, and is a tiny old church with great stained glass windows behind the altar.
They did a group shot of all the guests from the wedding, which is a great way to have a picture of all of your guests. I love the all guests shot, even though it can be very challenging to take! For this one I had to stand on a thin railing of a balcony 20 feet above them. I think everyone was a little scared when I climbed up there!
Another wedding that turned into a great dance party!
And then came the snow!
This was the view from our hotel room the next morning! Such a beautiful place!
