Food Photography

Sometimes I just get the cooking urge. I love to cook, but usually I try to keep it to simple things  and rarely make dessert or an appetizer. But I had the day off, and had a really nice bottle of wine that I'd been waiting to drink, and some steaks that needed to be made. So I kinda went all out. What started as making steaks for dinner turned into steaks with brussel sprouts with pancetta and breadcrumbs, followed by a dark chocolate tart with ginger crust. And of course we need an appetizer so why not just throw some bruschetta in there as well? Might as well bust out our never used wedding candlesticks and our decanter as well, and get a second bottle of wine just in case. Its a slippery slope my friends. But here are some pics of our delicious meal being prepared. Minus the steak. It turns out that my steak photographing skills are not up to par, and it looked absolutely disgusting.

Side note: The tart and brussels sprout recipes are from Smitten Kitchen

Sneak Peek Photo

I had a really great shoot yesterday with Sandra from Sleigh Dresses.  We used to work together at Anthropologie, and she is an awesome custom dress designer. It was so great to collaborate with such fun and like minded people on a shoot. I love when we're all in agreement that feathers in your hair are always good, and the bigger the necklace the better, and wine before a shoot makes everyone just a little bit happier! I'm nowhere near done editing, but this image stuck out to me so I thought I'd post a little sneak peek!

Also, thanks to our fabulous model Autumn!

3 month old portraits:Addison

Warning to anyone with a slight case of baby fever. This baby has chubby cheeks and headband with a giant bow. She will surely increase your symptoms, so please don't scroll down if you don't think you can handle it. She is pretty adorable.

Addison is the 3 month old little girl of Becky and Josh, two of my brother's childhood friends.  I've  known them since I was in elementary school, so it was great to meet their daughter and get the chance to photographer her!

We wanted to get some photos with their family dog, Porter, so Becky yelled, "Porter you want some treats?!" He ran over, I snapped this photo, and then Porter quickly realized he'd been duped and wanted nothing to do with us for the rest of the day.  Poor Porter, I think next time I actually will bring some treats!
